President Donald Trump announced he would fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on Monday. On Thursday, Cook filed a lawsuit claiming Trump cannot remove her from office and that he is violating federal law.
Cook filed the lawsuit against Trump at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Thursday, according to a report from Reuters. Cook says the ” unsubstantiated allegation about private mortgage applications” does not amount to cause that would allow the President to remove her from office, and his attempt to remove her would be unlawful.
