Trump wants SEC to toss quarterly reporting requirement

SEC building

President Donald Trump is pushing for a shake-up in corporate reporting rules, calling on companies to file earnings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) only twice a year instead of every quarter.

In a post on Truth Social Monday, Trump argued that reducing the frequency of disclosures would cut costs and allow executives to focus more on long-term business strategy.

“Subject to SEC Approval, Companies and Corporations should no longer be forced to ‘Report’ on a quarterly basis (Quarterly Reporting!), but rather to Report on a ‘Six (6) Month Basis,’” Trump wrote. “This will save money, and allow managers to focus on properly running their companies. Did you ever hear the statement that, ‘China has a 50 to 100 year view on management of a company, whereas we run our companies on a quarterly basis???’ Not good!!!”
