It’s time for another meeting of the Compliance Week book club, this month with a title particularly well-suited to audit executives and devotees of training and project management.

The book is An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth, by Col. Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency. One part autobiography, one part mediation on success, Hadfield has produced a crisp look at discipline, flexibility, and decision-making that anyone managing complex systems will appreciate. That would certainly include audit executives building or testing systems of internal control, and compliance officers pushing global workforces to analyze the ethically grey situations they encounter all the time and then act wisely. (Any kid who wants to grow up to be an astronaut should read the book, too.)
