General Cable has appointed Kurt Drake to the newly-created, standalone role of chief compliance officer. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Gregory Kenny.

In a statement, Kenny said the responsibilities of the compliance function will be to "effectively educate and partner with our associates around the world to promote adherence to the company’s high ethical standards and applicable laws and regulations."

With 19 years of experience in compliance and finance, Drake joins General Cable from PPG Industries, where he served as chief compliance officer.

General Cable also named Emerson Moser as general counsel and corporate secretary. Emerson previously was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary, and had been serving as the company’s interim chief legal officer since July.

Both Drake and Moser will serve as members of the operating committee.
