Citi Australia announced the appointment of Sarah Stewart as managing director and chief country compliance officer for Australia and New Zealand. Stewart will report to the bank’s Asia Pacific regional chief compliance officer, Aveline San, and Citi Australia CEO Marc Luet.

Stewart will oversee Citi Australia’s compliance function for the institutional and consumer bank and will work closely with government regulators and other industry stakeholders. She will join the Citi Australia & New Zealand Executive Committee and the bank’s regional Independent Compliance Risk Management Operating Committee.

Stewart has over 20 years of experience managing compliance functions at global financial services firms in Australia, Europe, and Asia, including Macquarie Group, Bank of America, Societe Generale, and Tabcorp, where she spent four years as general manager for risk and compliance. She replaces James Davies, who was appointed regional chief compliance officer for Citi’s Institutional business based in Hong Kong.
