Cryptocurrency marketplace Coinbase announced the addition of Paul Grewal as chief legal officer.

Grewal joins Coinbase from Facebook, where he served as vice president and deputy general counsel. Prior to Facebook, he spent more than five years as the U.S. magistrate judge for the Northern District of California.

At Facebook, Grewal grew his legal team to more than 200 people, overseeing regulatory affairs, litigation, and commercial issues, among others. In his role at Coinbase, he will oversee all legal functions of the global business and will manage the continuing growth of the legal team.
