Crypto.com, a cryptocurrency platform, announced the appointment of Antonio Alvarez as chief compliance officer. In this role, Alvarez will be responsible for leading worldwide regulatory compliance across Crypto.com’s entire product ecosystem.
Alvarez joins Crypto.com with over a decade of experience leading compliance programs at various companies. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was previously chief compliance officer at Coinme, a blockchain financial technology company.
Prior to Coinme, Alvarez was vice president of compliance at Coinbase, where he was responsible for the company’s anti-money laundering and sanction programs, including regulatory and independent examinations and financial partner compliance relationships.
His other past compliance roles include chief compliance officer at Yapstone, a provider of online and mobile payment solutions for global marketplace, and vice president of compliance at Western Union. Earlier in his career, Alvarez served in several different roles during a 13-year tenure at American Express, where he was responsible for leading the business transformation and compliance governance programs across multiple business lines and geographies.
