Hanover Insurance Group announced Dennis Kerrigan has been appointed executive vice president and general counsel following the retirement of J. Kendall Huber, who spent 20 years in the role.

Kerrigan takes over responsibility for Hanover’s legal, regulatory, and government affairs, as well as compliance, state filings, securities, and corporate governance matters. He joins Hanover after more than 10 years as general counsel for Zurich North America, where he led the legal, compliance, government and industry affairs, security, and regulatory affairs groups.

Kerrigan previously served as a partner in the global litigation department of an international law firm, representing Fortune 500 companies in a variety of matters, including trials, arbitrations, governmental investigations, regulatory proceedings, and internal investigations.
