Financial services giant Santander has named a new chief risk officer among several executive-level changes at the company.

Sarah Drwal has been appointed Santander US and Santander Bank N.A. chief risk officer, succeeding Mahesh Aditya, who has been promoted to CEO of Santander Consumer USA Holdings. Drwal brings more than 20 years of experience to the chief risk officer role, serving as EVP – head of enterprise risk management for Santander US since 2017 and as CRO for SBNA Consumer and Business Banking since 2016.

Prior to joining Santander, Drwal served in executive leadership roles in risk, fraud, governance, and strategy for JPMorgan Chase and Capital One. She began her career at Experian.

Aditya had served as Santander US chief risk officer since May 2018. His promotion goes along with Timothy Wennes succeeding Scott Powell as Santander US CEO and country head, effective immediately. Powell had also held the role of Santander Consumer USA Holdings CEO and has left the company to pursue an outside opportunity.

In addition, Juan Carlos “JC” Alvarez, Santander US and SBNA chief financial officer, has been named to the Santander Consumer USA Holdings board of directors.
