BWX Technologies, a supplier of nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. government, announced the promotion of Ronald (Chip) Whitford Jr. to the position of senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer, and corporate secretary.

Whitford succeeds Thomas McCabe, who will serve as special adviser to the chief executive officer until his retirement Aug. 1.

Whitford joined BWX Technologies in 2017 and most recently served as vice president, deputy general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for the company. In his new role, Whitford will have responsibility for the company’s legal, ethics, and compliance functions as well as serving as an executive liaison and secretary to the board of directors.

Prior to joining BWX Technologies, Whitford served as in-house counsel for public companies in the manufacturing, financial services, and software industries.
