The Hershey Company announced it has promoted James Turoff to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Turoff has served as acting general counsel since December 2020.

In this role, Turoff will lead the company’s global legal, compliance and ethics, government relations, corporate security, and corporate secretary teams. He will report directly to Chairman and CEO Michele Buck.

Turoff joined Hershey in 2014 and has held multiple roles with increasing responsibility across the legal department, the company stated. Prior to Hershey, Turoff was assistant general counsel, corporate and securities at steel production company Harsco, where he served as legal advisor to the board of directors and executive management on matters of corporate governance and executive compensation and was responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable corporate governance and securities requirements.

Prior to Harsco, Turoff served as director, corporate governance and securities and assistant secretary at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. Turoff began his legal career with law firm Jones Day.
