Professional services firm Marsh McLennan has promoted Denise Sanchez to the position of chief compliance officer.

Sanchez will lead compliance strategy for Marsh McLennan globally, partnering with compliance officers in the company’s four businesses to manage compliance risk across the enterprise. She will report to Bruce Nolop, chair of the audit committee of the Marsh McLennan board of directors, and Peter Beshar, executive vice president and general counsel.

Previously, Sanchez served as chief compliance officer in the United States. She succeeds Katherine Brennan, who served as deputy general counsel, corporate secretary, and chief compliance officer for Marsh McLennan for four years before being appointed in June as general counsel.

Prior to joining Marsh McLennan in 2017, Sanchez was the compliance director of laws and regulations at Willis Towers Watson, where she worked for a dozen years in roles of increasing responsibility. Earlier, she was an associate in Carlton Fields’s insurance corporate practice group and at Sidley Austin.
