Swiss-based pharmaceutical firm Novartis announced Chief Legal Officer Shannon Thyme Klinger has decided to resign and return to the United States to take an executive role at a biotechnology company. Klinger will step down from the executive committee of Novartis, effective March 15.

Thomas Kendris, currently global head litigation and US country president, will be appointed interim chief legal officer and attend to the executive committee in this capacity. Novartis has started an executive search process to evaluate internal and external candidates for the full-time role.

Klinger has been chief legal officer at Novartis since 2018. She has worked over 10 years at the company.
