Social media company Pinterest announced the appointment of Wanji Walcott as chief legal officer, effective Nov. 14.

She will join Pinterest’s executive team and report directly to Chief Executive Bill Ready. Walcott will be responsible for legal, compliance, and public policy.

She brings nearly 25 years of experience as in-house counsel. Previously, Walcott served as chief legal officer for Discover Financial Services, managing the legal and government relations organizations, co-leading the company’s innovation initiative, and working closely with the board of directors on strategy and risk management protocols.

Prior to Discover, Wanji worked for nearly four years at PayPal as general counsel, where she led a team that provided strategic legal support for the global product and engineering group.

She will succeed Christine Flores, who has served as general counsel since 2017.
