Scotiabank announced the appointment of Phil Thomas as chief risk officer. He will succeed Daniel Moore, who is leaving the bank after 25 years to pursue other interests.

Moore will take on a strategic role to aid with the transition until the end of the year.

Thomas has worked in progressive leadership roles in risk management and across the bank’s global business lines. Most recently, he was the bank’s executive vice president, customer insights, data & analytics. He will retain leadership of that bank function along with the duties of his new position.

Prior to that, Thomas served as Scotiabank’s executive vice president and chief retail risk officer.
