WonderFi, a technology company serving the financial services and cryptocurrency sector, announced the appointment of Torstein Braaten as chief compliance officer.
Braaten brings more than three decades of experience providing compliance advice to banks and investment dealers. He will continue to serve as head of regulatory affairs and chief compliance officer at Bitbuy Technologies, a registered dealer and regulated marketplace for fintech.
Before his time at Bitbuy, Braaten served as chief operating officer and chief compliance officer for Instinet Canada and its equity alternative trading system, Instinet Canada Cross.
He has participated in many advisory committees to regulatory bodies such as the Ontario Securities Commission and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) with respect to trading rules and crypto assets.
Braaten also served on the Ontario Securities Commission Fintech Advisory Committee and is currently a member of the IIROC’s Crypto-Asset Working Group.
