K2 Intelligence, an investigative, compliance and cyber-defense services firm, recently appointmented two cyber-security veterans to its compliance and cyber defense team. Dana Syracuse will join the firm on Sept. 10, and Vincent D’Agostino joined on Aug. 31.

Syracuse, former associate general counsel of the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), joins as managing director and a member of K2 Intelligence’s Anti-Money Laundering and Regulatory Compliance practice. As a senior regulator at NYDFS, Syracuse was instrumental in developing and implementing cybersecurity standards, crafting strategy related to emerging payment systems, drafting New York State’s BitLicense virtual currency regulation and chartering New York-based virtual currency exchanges. 

D’Agostino, formerly one of the most senior Special Agents within the Cyber Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) New York Office, joins the firm as an associate managing director in K2 Intelligence’s U.S. Cyber Investigations and Incident Response practice. D’Agostino, one of the U.S. government’s foremost authorities on identify theft, DARK/DEEP web investigations, crypto-currency, and international botnet investigations, was instrumental in government seizures of hundreds of international TOR hidden services and servers as well as in securing convictions in connection with the dismantling of the Silk Road network.
