PayPal has appointed Louise Pentland as general counsel, during a time when the online payment systems company prepares to separate from eBay and become an independent, publicly-traded company later this year. He will join the company on April 27.

Pentland is the former chief legal officer at Nokia and comes to PayPal with deep legal and commercial knowledge, along with a strategic understanding of the mobile technology landscape. He will be responsible for PayPal’s compliance with financial and regulatory requirements around the world.
