President Donald Trump has issued an executive order to dismantle the artificial intelligence (AI) laws of California, Colorado and three other states with comprehensive laws, saying that their โ€œexcessiveโ€ state regulation is getting in the way of American competitiveness.

State AI laws are โ€œburdensome,โ€ according to the โ€œEnsuring a National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligenceโ€ executive order (EO), issued Thursday. Any states with AI laws deemed โ€œonerousโ€ to American innovation will be cut off from certain federal funding, the EO said.
