First standard for EU AI Act targets quality management regime

eu ai act

The first EU standard to drive conformity and facilitate enforcement of the EU AI Act has been published in draft and circulated for feedback among the countries involved. This is a landmark step forward for artificial intelligence governance and regulation, and compliance managers should prepare for it to be finalized and published by the end of 2026.

The two EU standardization committees known as CEN and CENELEC, which drafted the proposed operational standard that incorporates Article 17 of the EU AI Act, announced a series of measures on Oct 30 intended to accelerate its progress to publication. They made it clear that speed is a priority.
