In one sense, compliance officers have plenty of reason to feel good when reading the 2014 Compliance Trends Report, a joint effort by Compliance Week and Deloitte to survey CCOs on a host of issues.

More than half of respondents to the survey, unveiled last week at the Compliance Week 2014 conference in Washington, say the chief compliance officer’s role is a stand-alone job, up from 37 percent last year. By a ratio of 3-to-1, more CCOs expect 2015 and beyond to bring budget increases rather than decreases. CCOs are also meeting more regularly with their boards, and a majority of the 209 compliance officers who participated in the Compliance Trends survey say alignment between their company’s culture and its professed values continues to improve.
