The new artificial intelligence framework released by the National Institute of Standards and Technology is “not a checklist” for AI, said Reva Schwartz, a research scientist and principal investigator for AI bias at NIST.

Schwartz, who spoke Thursday during an American Bar Association webinar on AI governance, said NIST’s AI Risk Management Framework (RMF) is intended to help AI developers and organizations better manage the risks associated with the technology.
