Unum Group, a provider of financial protection benefits, has appointed Lisa Iglesias as general counsel. She will assume this role from Liston Bishop, who has announced his intention to retire from the company at the end of March 2015.

Iglesias has more than 20 years of legal experience across corporate governance, securities, commercial transactions, litigation and regulatory. Most recently, she was general counsel and corporate secretary for WellCare Health Plans.

In her new role at Unum, which she will assume in January 2015, Iglesias will oversee Unum’s departments of law, government affairs, audit, and compliance.
