American International Group announced that Christopher Schaper has been appointed chief risk officer.

Schaper has held the role of chief risk officer on an interim basis since September 2024, while also serving as AIG’s global chief underwriting officer since 2023.

He will continue to report to Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Peter Zaffino.

Previously, he was CEO of AIG Re as well as CEO of both Validus Re and AlphaCat. He joined AIG in 2019 from Marsh McLennan. He also served in senior leadership roles at Montpelier Re, Endurance Specialty Insurance, and GE Capital.
