Compliance professionals may not typically pick their careers as children or straight out of school. For many people who do find their way into the profession, they quickly learn that education, a strong community, and mutual support are keys to success. Lisa Fine, Senior Director, Global Ethics & Compliance at Pearson, has developed into a key member of the compliance community. She’s sought-after by colleagues and fellow compliance officers seeking guidance and advice at different stages in their careers. That’s why we’ve named her Mentor of the Year for our 2025 Excellence in Compliance Awards.
Lisa’s responsibilities at Pearson encompass anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance, training, investigations, risk assessments, fraud, and working with third parties. The value she brings to the community is much further-reaching. Her networking abilities, of course, make her a welcome regular at compliance industry events she attends each year. She also co-hosts a podcast, “Great Women in Compliance” (GWIC), where she invites women from around the field to share their experiences. She also co-wrote a book, “Sending the Elevator Back Down: What We’ve Learned from Great Women in Compliance,” encouraging her philosophy of sharing success and encouraging others to support one another.
