Israeli police last week made more than two dozen arrests in a corruption probe in what some say is the most significant anti-corruption operation in the country’s history.
On Dec. 25, Israeli police arrested more than two dozen current and former officials in the probe, including several from the party of Avigdor Lieberman, the foreign minister, Agence France-Presse reported. Officials have been questioned on suspicion of corruption, embezzlement of public funds, and illegal money transfers. According to police, “millions” of shekels of public funds were allegedly transferred to organizations close to Lieberman’s Yisrael Beitenu party.
