The Department of Justice (DOJ) has proposed a new rule that would regulate the use of Americans’ personal information by foreign companies and foreign persons in six “countries of concern,” including China and Russia.
The notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM), would prohibit and restrict the sale of private data to those nations, to try and blunt their efforts to use it for espionage, coercion, influence, blackmail and other cyber-enabled activities.
