The tech company behind gay dating app Grindr has agreed to make a £26 million ($35.2 million) settlement over allegations that it shared sensitive personal medical information—including whether people were HIV positive—with third parties.
Grindr was sued in the High Court of England and Wales in April 2024 following claims that it breached U.K. data protection laws by sharing users’ information without their consent. This included sensitive personal data about the users’ ethnicity, as well as data relating to their sex life and/or sexual orientation.
