Experts believe President-elect Joe Biden will likely take his time before making big moves to unwind the dizzying array of sanctions levied by his predecessor, President Donald Trump.

From 2017-2020, the Trump administration has issued more than 3,500 sanctions against countries, jurisdictions, individuals, trading activities, and sectors, according to the Center for a New American Security and additional research by the Wall Street Journal. The Obama administration, by contrast, issued about 4,300 sanctions—but over eight years.
