Compliance executives must feel like so many things are happening in the world of data these days, you can barely keep up. I feel your pain; neither can we here at Compliance Week.
In the last two weeks Compliance Week has hosted two executive forums about the intersection of data and compliance: first a private webcast on the appeal of “Big Data” (more on that buzzword shortly), and then an event in New York City where we brought together compliance and IT security officers to talk about data protection. Meanwhile, as I raced to write my observations about those two events, COSO published new guidance on risk management in the cloud computing era; and the land hurricane that paralyzed much of the mid-Atlantic over the weekend reminded us about the risks of cloud computing as well, since it disabled the cloud for an untold number of businesses. Where to start?
