The College of William & Mary announced the selection of Pamela Mason as its new chief compliance officer following a national search.

Mason, who has worked as Title IX coordinator and interim chief compliance officer at W&M since 2018, officially assumed the role July 10. Kiersten Boyce previously served in the position before leaving the university last summer.

In her role as chief compliance officer and Title IX coordinator, Mason will lead the Office of Compliance & Equity; serve as the campus’ primary resource for matters related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; develop and revise policies and procedures for W&M; and coordinate the Title IX process, among other responsibilities.

Mason started at the university in 2004 as the associate director of development for athletics. In 2006, she became the director of compliance and educational services and served in that role for two years before becoming the assistant athletics director for compliance and educational services and senior woman administrator. In 2013, she became W&M’s deputy chief compliance officer and Title IX coordinator.

Mason earned her law and MBA degrees from W&M in 2000.
