Medical device company Medtronic announced the appointment of Ivan Fong as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

Fong will join the company Feb. 1, 2022. He will succeed Brad Lerman, who will retire at the end of January.

In his role, Lerman leads Medtronic’s global legal function, government affairs, and its Office of Ethics and Compliance. He joined the company in May 2014.

Fong joins Medtronic from 3M, where he served as chief legal and policy officer and secretary. He first joined 3M as general counsel in October 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile. Fong also previously served as general counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and as chief legal officer and secretary for Cardinal Health.
