Fast food chain McDonald’s announced the appointment of Jon Banner as executive vice president and global chief impact officer.

Banner will join the global senior leadership team and report to Chief Executive Chris Kempczinski.

He will oversee the company’s sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts; government relations and public policy; and communications and international corporate relations functions. He will also oversee Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Previously, Banner served in a similar capacity at PepsiCo for 10 years, having been responsible for the communications function and PepsiCo Foundation, and worked closely with the company’s sustainability and government affairs teams.

During his time at PepsiCo, he co-created the company’s sustainability vision, PepsiCo Positive, and reimagined the foundation’s global strategy toward advancing a more sustainable food system to alleviate hunger, provide access to safe water, and drive economic empowerment.

Prior to PepsiCo, Banner spent most his career at Disney/ABC traveling the world as an executive producer.
