New York Life announced the promotion of Senior Vice President of Corporate Compliance Sandi Tillotson to chief compliance officer.

Tillotson, who succeeds the retiring Sara Badler in the role, will report to General Counsel Michael McDonnell.

Joining New York Life in 2003 as an associate counsel in the general counsel’s officer, Tillotson climbed the ladder to serve as head of the corporate risk practice team within operational risk management. She was promoted to vice president of corporate compliance in 2014 and senior vice president in 2020.

In these roles, Tillotson led several key compliance functions, including sales practice compliance, sales standards and product compliance, group insurance compliance, market conduct reporting and testing, and compliance analytics.

Prior to New York Life, Tillotson was a litigation associate at global law firm Bingham McCutchen and worked as a public affairs specialist at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
