Insurance giant The Hartford promoted its Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Don Hunt to general counsel and head of law, compliance, and government affairs, effective March 1.

Hunt will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Christopher Swift.

Hunt joined The Hartford in 2007 and held roles of increasing responsibility over the last 16 years. He’s led legal teams responsible for securities and corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, investments, employment and employee benefits, intellectual property, and privacy. Before this, he was a senior attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission.
