Truist Financial Corp. announced Scott Stengel will join the company as senior executive vice president and chief legal officer, effective Dec. 26.

Stengel will report to Truist Chairman and Chief Executive Bill Rogers. He will serve as corporate secretary to the Truist board of directors, become a member of the bank’s operating council, and oversee all legal affairs and government relations.

He previously served as general counsel of Ally Financial since 2016. Prior to that, he was general counsel for UMB Financial Corp. and a partner at King & Spalding and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Washington, D.C.
