David Thelander has been appointed as a risk assurance managing director in PwC’s Risk & Compliance, Systems & Analytics practice.

Thelander has more than 27 years of industry, regulatory, and consulting experience in financial services risk, governance, risk management, and compliance. At PwC, he is focused on constructing risk and compliance technology-based services, both with the growing entrants of technology companies into the financial services sector and the existing base of banks and asset management firms.

Prior to his role at PwC, Thelander served as senior advisor at Australia-based Promontory Australasia, a risk and compliance consulting firm. In this role, he advised clients on enhancing governance and risk oversight, particularly in the areas of regulatory compliance, operational and risk management to financial services companies, including banks and investment advisers across Australia and New Zealand.

Thelander also served as principal of Thelander Advisers, a firm he founded in 2009 to assist investment management clients in managing business, operational, and compliance risks. He also served as a seasoned adviser to firms’ boards of directors, senior management, risk advisory, internal audit, and legal and compliance professionals.
