A Scottish energy company has become the first to be named by the U.K. customs and excise authority for breaching Russian sanctions rules. Petrofac Facilities Management Limited (PFML) paid a ยฃ569,157 ($759,148) compound settlement for breaches that occurred in 2022 and 2023.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) noted in a statement on June 29 that the company had self-reported the breaches and had cooperated fully with the investigation. Petrofac admitted that it had supplied sanctioned industrial goods to individuals connected with a sanctioned regime while it was winding down its Russian operations after the U.K. imposed sanctions in response to Russiaโ€™s invasion of Ukraine.
