FCA enforcement rising across sectors, experts at the Women in Compliance Summit say

Federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Customs and Border Protection, are expected to significantly alter the enforcement scope of the False Claims Act (FCA) to reflect the enforcement priorities of the Trump Administration, experts speaking at Compliance Week’s Women in Compliance Summit in Austin, Texas.

The FCA has been used as an aid to combat fraud for about 162 years, since 1863, when President Lincoln called for a law to combat defense contractor fraud during the American Civil War.

In modern history, the FCA’s scope has expanded, and it is used to fight fraud among government contractors across many sectors, especially health care and defense, plus customs and violations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
