Experts in compliance and operational risk see political motivations in a report by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), which examined the nine largest US banks and concluded that they had used reputation risk policies to deny services to businesses and individuals based on social, political, and religious views as well as lawful business activities.
The nine largest US banks overseen by the OCC are: JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Capital One, PNC Bank, TD Bank, and BMO Bank.
