The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, a national federation of 37 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, has promoted Scott Nehs to the role of general counsel and corporate secretary.

Nehs was promoted to his current position after serving for three years as deputy general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. During his tenure as deputy general counsel, he was responsible for all of the personnel and budget decisions in the legal and governance division.

In his new role, he will continue to advise BCBSA and Blue Plan senior leadership on a range of strategic, reputational and operational issues.

Prior to joining BCBSA, Nehs served at PepsiCo, where he was the senior vice president of legal and government affairs for PepsiAmericas. He also was a member of its worldwide leadership team and held the offices of chief compliance officer and chief privacy officer.
