Financial services company Comerica has named Mauricia Ortiz as senior vice president and chief accounting officer, effective as of Jan. 23. Ortiz succeeds Muneera Carr, who has assumed the role of Comerica's chief financial officer.

Ortiz is responsible for managing all aspects of Comerica's accounting function, including tax, financial and regulatory reporting, accounting policy and accounting operations. He joined Comerica in 2010 as an assistant vice president, accounting policy senior specialist. His duties have rapidly expanded through the years, which led to his position as assistant controller in February 2015.

Prior to Comerica, Ortiz held positions with Whitely Penn, JSA Financial Consultants and PwC.
