Goldman Sachs Group has hired back its former chief risk officer from Wells Fargo.

Brian King will return to Goldman Sachs as consumer chief risk officer and head of business operations, King confirmed to Compliance Week.

“It’s a first line of defense role,” King said.

For the past seven months, King has been chief risk officer for Consumer and Small Business Banking at Wells Fargo, overseeing frontline risk management for the divisions, according to his LinkedIn profile. King had previously served two years as chief risk officer for Consumer Products at Goldman Sachs.

The move to lure King back to Goldman Sachs was part of a series of hires by the bank to replenish some of its top executive-level talent in its Consumer Bank division, according to Reuters.
