Oil field services company Baker Hughes has appointed Kara Gordon as chief compliance officer and deputy general counsel.

Gordon, who joined the Houston-based GE subsidiary on May 10, made the announcement on her LinkedIn profile. She assumes the chief compliance officer role from Jay Martin, who will retire later this month after 15 years with the company.

Gordon will bring to Baker Hughes the skills she gained in her previous role as chief ethics and compliance officer and assistant general counsel at Dow Chemical Company. In that role, Gordon was “accountable for ethics-related matters across Dow, for the administration of Dow’s Code of Business Conduct, ‘The Diamond Standard,’ and for formulation and implementation of its underlying policies and procedures,” according to her LinkedIn profile.

A member of Dow’s legal management team, Gordon was responsible for leading the internal processes that promote and support Dow’s compliance with laws, regulations, company policies, and contracts, including enterprise-wide ethics and compliance risk management and internal complaint reporting programs.
