Financial technology company Dave announced the appointment of Joan Aristei to chief legal officer, effective Sept. 25.

Aristei brings both private- and public-sector experience during a nearly 30-year legal career, most recently serving as general counsel and chief risk officer at Oportun.

Before Oportun, she served as head of banking and lending product compliance at Citigroup Private Bank; vice president, chief compliance officer and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase’s auto and student lending division; and counsel to Nissan Motors finance and Toyota financial services.

She succeeds general counsel John Ricci, who will retire Sept. 29.
