New Zealand-based Tower Insurance announced the appointment of Sharyn Reichstein as chief risk officer, according to a post on the company’s LinkedIn page.

Reichstein brings experience in corporate governance, financial regulation, financial risk, and risk management. Her appointment will be effective July 1.

Most recently, she held the position of general manager, general insurance for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). Additionally, Reichstein served as chair of the APRA’s general insurance industry group, scanning the risk environment and setting strategic responses to industry issues.

During her time at the APRA, she led the transformation of its supervision framework and revised risk assessment model for the financial sector in Australia. She will succeed Acting Chief Risk Officer James Brownell.
