The U.K. Serious Fraud Office is seeking a retrial of three former senior managers of  retail company Tesco, who are facing fraud and false accounting charges.

The SFO request for retrial concerns Carl Rogberg, Tesco’s former finance director; Christopher Bush, former managing director of Tesco U.K.; and John Scouler, the company’s former U.K. food commercial director, who are charged with allegations of fraud. Specifically, they are charged with cooking Tesco's books, overstating profits by £250 million. The alleged activity occurred between February and September 2014. They denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

The case was accepted by the director of the SFO for investigation in October 2014, and charges were brought by the SFO on 9 September 2016.

HHJ Deborah Taylor was forced to discharge the jury in the trial on 5 February 2018, after Rogberg suffered a heart attack. He is recovering at home from quadruple heart bypass surgery, The Telegraph reported.

The SFO said it wrote to the court on 2 March 2018 to seek a retrial of the three defendants, and that a date for the next hearing will be set in due course.
