Sterling Construction Company has appointed Richard Chandler as general counsel and secretary, effective as of Oct. 27, 2017. Chandler assumes the role from Roger Barzun, who has held the position for the past 25 years.

Chandler served as executive vice president, chief legal officer and secretary of Chicago Bridge & Iron Company from 2011 to 2016. Prior to that, he was a partner in a major international law firm and previously served as SVP, general counsel and secretary to Smith International, and SVP, general counsel and secretary to M-I Swaco, a multinational joint venture between Smith International and Schlumberger.
