Would you give up social media for life in order to guarantee a lifetime of data privacy? According to a study by global cyber-security company Kaspersky, nearly 4 in 10 (38 percent) consumers would.

The guess here is if you would have asked that question 3 years ago, that percentage would be in the single digits. But in the wake of scandals like Cambridge Analytica (Facebook) and Google failing to disclose how it was using users’ data gathered across its massive suite of tools and services, people are much more tuned in to the issue of how their data is being abused. 

Heck, even Congress is threatening action, and the social media behemoths themselves admit they need regulation. Still, I am surprised the number is that high.
